Session Explanations
Texas A&M-Commerce Advising Day
This is a new event being offered by the Admissions Office at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Come visit with staff members from the following Texas A&M-Commerce departments: Admissions, Financial Aid and Academic Advising (from individual colleges and majors). During the Commerce Advising/Admissions Day, you will be able to turn in your completed application form (pick up the packet from the Teacher Center prior to the event), have your transcripts evaluated*, visit with an academic advisor and receive scholarship and financial aid information (*Commerce will waive the $25 application fee if you provide all necessary documents including official transcripts in a sealed envelope when you submit your application on this day). If you have already turned in your application to the Teacher Center, you do not need to attend this event.
Pre-Advising Sessions
This session is reserved for students pursuing a teaching certification in EC-4 (Early Childhood – 4th grade) or 4-8 (4th to 8th grade). An advisor from Texas A&M University-Commerce will come to Eastfield to “pre-advise” you about university life. It is recommended that you attend one of these session dates the semester before you transfer to Texas A&M University-Commerce (for example: if you are transferring in the Fall, attend this in the Spring).
"My Leo"
Training Sessions
Once you transfer to Texas A&M University-Commerce, you will be required to have knowledge of the My Leo system. This student system is used for course registration, accessing transcripts, accessing financial aid information and other student needs. In this session we will train you to use the system and feel more comfortable about transferring to the university. It is recommended that you attend one of these session dates the semester before you transfer to Texas A&M University-Commerce (for example: if you are transferring in the Fall, attend this in the Spring).
Eastfield COE Transfer Registration Day
The College of Education at Texas A&M-Commerce is hosting this event for Summer/Fall 2008 transfer students who are majoring in Education. In the morning session, everyone will be given the opportunity to register for their Summer/Fall 2008 courses at Commerce (if you don't attend this day, you will have to call and schedule an appointment to meet with a Commerce advisor on a later date). In the afternoon, Commerce will provide a campus tour of the university. On this day, students will also be given the opportunity to purchase their parking permits and obtain their student identification card. ATTENTION: This session is for Education majors ONLY!
